Phil Weiss PHILIP E. WEISS, Mr. Weiss graduated cum laude from San Francisco State University, where he earned degrees in political science and philosophy, and after four years in the U.S. Navy, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he served as the Editor-In-Chief of the USF Maritime Law Journal. Mr. Weiss is a respected author and speaker on maritime law issues, and for 17 of his 20 years of practice, he has successfully represented hundreds of marina, boatyard and other clients in a broad array of maritime issues, including those involving “necessaries” liens, trespassing and abandoned vessels, wharfage and other maritime contracts, oil pollution and maritime torts. Mr. Weiss currently serves as an adjunct professor of maritime law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, is a nonvoting member of the San Diego Harbor Safety Committee, and sits by appointment as the Chair of the California State Bar Commission on specialization in admiralty and maritime law.
